This month’s inspiration
Jude Walker’s climate march
In August, 11-year-old Jude Walker tramped 200 miles from his home in Yorkshire to Westminster to point out to the government that they should probably start paying a bit more attention to the escalating climate crisis. He managed to attract more than 100,000 signatures on the Zero Carbon Campaign’s carbon tax petition. An inspiration to us all… and the best excuse ever for not doing your homework.

This month, don’t miss…
The World Black Pudding Lobbing Championships
Connoisseurs of quirky traditions and brilliant British place names, take note: the annual World Black Pudding Lobbing Championships will take place this month in Ramsbottom. Watch (or gather your own bloody arsenal and join in) as burly sausage hurlers compete to see who can knock the most Yorkshire puddings off a 7.6m-high plinth. Bonus fact: locals will tell you that this tradition dates back to the War of the Roses, when a shortage of ammunition forced soldiers to fight with battered puddings and blood sausages instead. A nice story… but they might just be telling porkies.
